Rebecca Gore

Rebecca Gore, co-author of Behind Prison Walls, is a writer and lawyer. She is an Advocate of the High Court and was the legal researcher for the Inspecting Judge of the Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services, Justice Edwin Cameron, as well as a law clerk at the Constitutional Court.  She has also worked for various international and local institutions dedicated to public interest work.

Rebecca studied at the University of Cape Town and Harvard Law School, where she was the Henigson Human Rights Fellow. At Harvard, Rebecca was awarded the Oberman Writing Prize for her article about the intersections of criminal justice and gender justice. Her research areas are prisons, human rights, women’s rights, constitutional law, and international law.
