Peter Godwin was born and raised in Zimbabwe and is the author of six nonfiction books, including Mukiwa and When a Crocodile Eats the Sun. His latest memoir, Exit Wounds: A Story of Love, Loss, and Occasional Wars, continues his exploration of personal and political history. He has taught writing at Wesleyan and Columbia, and served as President of PEN American Center. An Orwell and Guggenheim fellow, he lives in New York City.
