Mbekezeli Benjamin is a legal researcher at Judges Matter, a civil society watchdog of South Africa’s judiciary, based at the University of Cape Town. Mbekezeli is a contributing author to Judicial Financial Independence in Africa (published by Kabarak University Press, Kenya, in 2024) and is lead author on the Judiciary chapter in South African Constitutional Law (a new commentary on the SA constitution published by Juta Law, Cape Town). Mbekezeli frequently provides expert commentary on the judiciary in major newspapers and on television and radio.
