Dr. Nakedi Mathews Phosa, born in Mbombela and raised near Mokopane, played a pivotal role in South Africa’s transition to democracy. He served as Mpumalanga’s premier (1994 -1999) and ANC treasurer-general (2007-2012). Phosa, fluent in nine languages, is the author of Witness to Power (2024) and two poetry volumes, reflecting on his life and political journey.
