Dennis Davis was educated at Herzlia School and at the Universities of Cape Town and Cambridge. He served as a Judge of the High Court (1998–2020) and as Judge President of the Competition Appeal Court (1999–2020). An honorary professor at UCT, UWC and Wits, he has taught constitutional law, tax, jurisprudence and competition law, chaired the Davis Tax Committee, and helped draft the Competition Act (1998) and Companies Act (2008)
In Democracy, Deliberation and Degradation? 25 Years Later, his twelfth book, he draws on decades of judicial and academic experience to assess the trajectory — and fragility — of South Africa’s constitutional democracy.
