David Bristow’s environmental awakening began before he understood watts and amps. Inspired by the 1976 school protests, he pursued journalism and later earth sciences, drawn by climbers who spoke of ecosystems and rocks. Over four decades and 20 books later, he has fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a paperback writer. His Stories from the Veld series includes The Game Ranger, The Knife, The Lion and the Sheep; Of Hominins, Hunter-Gatherers and Heroes; Big Pharma, Dirty Lies, Busy Bees and Eco Activists; and The Lion, the Dung Beetle and the Veld Tool Box. His latest book, Loony Birds, Lion Men and the Snake That Was a Gerbil, was published in 2025.
