Anthony Butler

Anthony Butler is Professor of Political Studies at the University of Cape Town. Previously, he has been Chair in Political Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, Director of the Politics and Administration programme at Birkbeck College, University of London and Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Butler is the author of a number of books, including the biography, Cyril Ramaphosa, and two Jacana Pocket Histories, The Idea of the ANC and Presidential Power. He has been a regular columnist for Business Day for more than two decades.
