Lucienne Bestall is a writer and curatorial researcher based in Cape Town. She holds a degree in Fine Art and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Cape Town. Her new book, Except for Breath: Reflections on Image and Memory, explores themes of memory and visual culture. Her essays have appeared in Our Ghosts Were Once People and Raritan, with the latter listed in The Best American Essays (2022). She also contributes to Phaidon’s international art surveys.
