2023 Festival Information

Presence of Cape Talk Radio Station

Cape Talk radio station will provide two outside broadcasts. Hosting these will be Pippa Hudson (on Friday 19 May) and Sara-Jayne Makwala King (on Saturday 20 May).

Together with the Festival, News 24 is co-hosting the first session of the 2023 programme, under the title: News24 Breakfast: The Next New South Africa. It will run a News24 Lounge in the Town Hall, where people will be able to sit, read and relax – and take out a News24 subscription if they so wish. Note that FLF members will be able to obtain a 10% discount on News24’s event, ‘Off the Record’, which is taking place in Cape Town on 25 May. News24 will also have roving reporters covering the Festival.

Glorious Food on the Festival Lawn
Founding sponsor Porcupine Ridge will once again create a festive atmosphere on the Festival Lawn outside the Town Hall on the main road. They’ll be serving delicious pulled-pork sandwiches paired with their delicious, easy-drinking wines; and you will be able to lounge on their giant bean bags (and under umbrellas) as you watch festival participants go by.
Necessary food on the move at the Festival Hub
The new Festival Hub, situated just outside the Town Hall on the main road, will offer on-the-move food for those needing to grab quick-and-easy bites or coffee during breaks or between back-to-back sessions.
Coffee Stations
There are three conveniently located coffee stations at the Festival: one at the Festival Hub (see above), and two more at the Town Hall and at Hospice Hall.
Exclusive Books Pop-up Store
Buy books at the Exclusive Books pop-up store in the Town Hall. Book sales also take place at each venue where a session is held.
