About The Franschhoek Literary Festival
The Franschhoek Literary Festival (FLF) was established in 2007 by a group of literary enthusiasts and volunteers as a non-profit organisation. The three-day festival provides a space for a cross-section of South African and international authors to gather to inspire, delight, inform and challenge audiences. The festival programme is curated for all South Africans and visitors who love to read books. It is attended by a cross section of book lovers, as well as writers, authors, publishers and booksellers. The annual Festival runs for a weekend in May in a variety of village venues, and is preceded by FLF’s Book Reading Festival for Young Readers. With funds raised from sponsors, two membership programmes and festival participants more broadly, FLF’s CSI initiative, Franschhoek Reading, helps fund and maintain the FLF school libraries at primary schools in the Franschhoek Valley.
The 2023 Franschhoek Literary Festival takes place from 19-21 May.
