Tessa Dooms, Director at the Rivonia Circle, is a sociologist, political analyst and development practitioner with 15 years’ experience. She holds a Master of Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and is also a trustee of the Kagiso Trust. Lynsey Ebony Chutel is a journalist and a writer. She has a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University and a Master’s in International Relations from Wits. A reporter for The New York Times, she has contributed to South African and international news outlets. Dooms and Chutel explore the complexities of identity in their collaborative effort, Coloured: How Classification Became Culture.
