Sandile Ngidi was born in Vryheid in KwaZulu and grew up at Amahlongwa on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast. He writes in Zulu and English. As a journalist he has written for the Natal Witness Echo, City Press, Umafrika, Sunday Times and Al Ja Zeera among others. His current MA research in the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Cape Town is on the eminent philosopher-poet, Mazisi Kunene. He is the communications coordinator of HUMA- Institute for Humanities in Africa, also at UCT. Sandile was a judge for the English entries for The Sol Plaatje European Union Poetry Anthology 2023
