Ruth Hall is the South African Research Chair in Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies at the University of the Western Cape. She is editor of the international Journal of Peasant Studies; works on land politics and land policy; and co-convenes the Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa with partners around the continent. She served as a member of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Advisory Panel on Land Reform, and has published extensively on land reform, tenure and governance in Africa, with a focus on transnational land investments.
