Robert Marawa is a South African sports journalist, television and radio personality who began his career as a continuity presenter before moving into sports broadcasting. He studied for a Law degree at the University of Witwatersrand from 1992, only to be bitten by the broadcasting bug in 1996. He joined SABC1 when the channels were relaunched in their present format of SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 respectively in 1996, as a Zulu and English continuity presenter. Robert officially started at the then Topsport as an anchor of the popular live soccer show Laduma in late 1997. He was thrown straight into the deep-end of France World Cup 1998 with a total of 48 games to share between two anchors.
Robert later hosted the Discovery Sports Centre, weekdays on Metro FM, Thursday Night Live and various soccer shows on Supersport 3. Robert is celebrated as one of the most accomplished journalists Mzansi has ever produced. He released is autobiography, Gqimm Shelele: The Robert Marawa Story in 2023. In February 2023, Robert started at Radio 702, presenting his acclaimed show Marawa Sports Worldwide (#MSW) daily from Primedia’s 947 studios in Johannesburg.
