Joy Watson is a feminist researcher and writer whose areas of specialisation are public policy, service delivery and the tracking of funding flows from a social equity perspective. She has worked on research initiatives in South Africa as well as internationally, including for UN Habitat’s Safer Cities Programme. She co-edited Nasty Women Talk Back: A Collection of Feminist Essays on the Global Women’s Marches (2018) and Striving for Social Equity (2023), and currently chairs the Board of the Women on Farms Project. Her book reviews and reflections on life’s joys and sorrows appear on the pages of Daily Maverick Life.
Watson’s first novel, The Other Me, was published in 2022 and was shortlisted for the University of Johannesburg Debut Prize.
