Charles Skinner

Charles Skinner, a geologist by profession, worked with De Beers in the exploration for kimberlites for 33 years and – from 2007 to 2019 – headed up the worldwide search for new diamond mines. He has lived and worked in Angola, Botswana and Brazil, and spent time in Canada, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Russia. Skinner is an avid collector of (mostly) South African art, reads extensively and has a keen interest in fauna and flora and the planting of indigenous trees. In recent years he has also devoted himself to the research and publication of The Sculptures of Sydney Kumalo and Ezrom Legae: A Catalogue Raisonné.
