Sue Nyathi

SUKOLUHLE ‘SUE’ NYATHI is a writer by passion and an investment analyst by profession. Born in Zimbabwe, she enjoyed the world of books throughout her whole childhood. In 2008 Sue came to South Africa to further her studies.

Sue has written three novels, The Polygamist (2012), The Gold Diggers (2018) and A Family Affair (2020). The Gold Diggers was longlisted for the Barry Ronge Fiction Award and the Dublin Literary Award, while A Family Affair has been longlisted for the Humanities and Social Sciences Award.

Based in Johannesburg, Sue juggles being a mother and author with ease. Other than her 3 novels, she has also contributed to Black Tax: Burden or Ubuntu? (2019) and Hair: Unpicking and Weaving stories of Identity (2019). Sue edited the recently released When Secrets Become Stories, a book in which women from all walks of life, across racial lines, age and income demographics, boldly speak out abuse.
