ANDREW BROWN
ANDREW
BROWN lives and practises as an advocate in Cape Town, in the
same High Court that previously heard his appeal against a prison
sentence for public violence arising from confrontations with the
police when he was a student at UCT and belonged to the UDF.
During 2004 he was appointed as an acting Judge in Criminal Appeals in
the Cape High Court. He has also served since 1999 as a reservist
sergeant in the S A Police Service, working in the southern suburbs.
His first novel, Inyenzi, was
about a priest’s dilemma during the Rwanda killings in 1994. His
second, Coldsleep Lullaby, a
crime novel set in Stellenbosch past and present, won the Sunday
Times Fiction Prize in 2006. He is married with three
children.
